A Little About Me
I think who you work with matters. You can find someone with the right credentials, training, and therapeutic approach and still sit across from them thinking, I don't think I can talk to this therapist.
I'm a pretty straightforward person, and that's true in the therapy room too. I'm engaged. I ask questions. I notice things. I may challenge something, wonder about something, laugh with you, or point out something that doesn't quite add up.
I'm not particularly interested in hiding behind a clinical therapist persona. I'm a therapist in the room with you, but I'm also a person.
That doesn't mean I'm casual about the work. I take what I do seriously, and I bring years of experience, training, and clinical knowledge into the room. I just don't think being a skilled therapist requires pretending I'm not human.
Professional Background and Training
That being said, knowing something about a therapist's background and training does matter. So, let's get into the details.
I've been a social worker for 18 years and in private psychotherapy practice for the past eight. I provide both in-person and telehealth therapy.
I'm Level II trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) through the IFS Institute. I've also completed EMDR training through the Trauma Training Institute and am currently completing the remaining consultation required to finish that training process.
I've also completed training in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and have experience supporting clients in integrating psychedelic experiences, whether those happened in a clinical setting, a retreat, or on their own.
Over the years, I've worked extensively with complex trauma, medical trauma, chronic illness and pain, relationship struggles, changing long-standing habits and patterns, and a wide range of other concerns.
But my real area of expertise is the IFS model.
IFS isn't simply one of several approaches I use. It's the primary way I understand and approach the work we do together.
